" God
does not wish that a follower of Jesus should seek only his own salvation.
He cannot be hat selfish. If one wants to save his own soul he should work
to save many other souls like his own. "

| I had gone to a prayer meeting at the Matridham Ashram in Varanasi. By divine providence I happened to meet there a young man named Charlie. Slightly bald, with long hair he seemed older than he really was. He was convinced that he had a divine mission to distribute Catholic publications and spiritual books among non-Christians and among youth. As part of this mission he had extensively carried out the apostolate in Delhi, U.P., Tamilnadu and Kerala.

In this season of Lent I wish to share with you readers an experience of Charlie which he himself narrated to me.
IHe had gone to Amala Cancer Care Institute at Trichur in Kerala in order to distribute the magazine Vachanolsavam among the patients. Passing through the Hospital Verandah Charlie's gaze fell upon an elderly couple, who were evidently Hindus. Their only son was on the point of death with cancer. There was hardly a chance of recovery. Even then these parents were frantically running about in search of matching blood in order to prolong the life of their son even if for a few moments.

Charlie replied, "I can give you blood but you must promise you will go where I tell you and do whatever the priest there will tell you." Without thinking anything else those loving parents agreed. Charlie took them to Fr. George Panakal, the director of Muringoor Retreat Centre. "You don't go back. Immediately take part in the retreat," ordered Fr. George. The parents were taken aback but wishing to honour their word, they made arrangement with some relatives to be at the bedside of their son and agreed to enter the retreat. |

| Intercession
is a heavenly prayer, equivalent to praise and adoration. In heaven,
the most important person after God is Holy Mary. |
