Count Your Blessings

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone" (I Tim 2.1).

by Sr. Gabrielle. M.S. A

"Count your blessings, name them one by one…" is a commonly sung song. Do we ever feel or realize the essence of this beautiful number? Have we ever dared to count the numerous blessings God has showered on us?

Of course we can never name all our physical, spiritual, temporal and eternal blessings. But from time to time it is good to remember with gratitude His many gifts. If we start naming each star after each blessing then I am sure there would not be enough stars to go around.
God has blessed each one of us with gifts, and talents. Each one means every man, woman, and child, irrespective of the caste, creed, colour, race origin etc. There is no division or fragmentation or partiality with God. He has endowed us with talents so that we may make use of them to the fullest to give Him all glory, honour and praise.

I am thankful to God for myself, for my life, for choosing me to serve His loved ones. Before joining the Divine Ashram, I had a different life. Apart from the prayer life, I was associated with various schools at different levels. Schools gave me a platform to come in contact with the public. Parents and students of different age groups approached me to share their happiness and their brokenness and sadness questioning God with grumbling, "Why me? Why does this have to happen to me? Why is God allowing all this trouble? What wrong have I done?" Why do we complain when we face something that is unwanted by us? Hardly any one of us complains when God keeps pouring His endless blessings and mercies upon us.

The rosary is an important weapon in the war against satanic forces.

I thank God for the help that I was able to give to them. I count it all a blessing from the Almighty who chose me to help, share and to some extent lighten their burdens. I helped them fight their battles by the weapon He has given to all of us. A weapon that is stronger than any of these latest technologies. The most amazing thing about it is that it will never hurt anyone nor bring destruction; instead it will be a balm to the aching heart and bring prosperity and happiness. Yes, it is the weapon of prayer. If we cannot reach out to the needy in person we can always be there in prayer. We ought to be thankful to God in every situation for we are His creation made in His very image. He has a plan for each one of us, to be executed in His own time. His time is always right. Every pain, grief unpleasantness should be counted as a blessing. God knows our limits and accordingly He gives us His strength. In our weakness He makes us strong. There are so many blessings that we don't realize but if we look around there are so many who are deprived of food, shelter, clothes or friends. Not only this, we are all the more blessed and privileged as we can hold the very Word of God in our hands and read it openly wherein we learn about His saving grace, comforting spirit and 100% assurance of eternal life with Jesus.
Intercession is a heavenly prayer, equivalent to praise and adoration. In heaven, the most important person after God is Holy Mary.
