A Pilgrimage through faith

Our life in this world is a journey through faith. We continue our journey to reach God

By Vincent M Concesso, Archbishop of Delhi

In the Book of Exodus, we read about the hazards that the people of Israel had to undergo. For Moses saving Israel from Egyptian's slavery was a tough task. It was a journey of faith. Leaving themselves in God's powerful hands, Moses led them to the Land of Promise. Lord glorified Israel,  offering them

a land of their own and his commandments to enable them to lead a good life. When Moses came down from the Mount, he was agonized to see the people turning to dogmatic practices forgetting their almighty God. God never loved their deeds.

Our life in this world is a journey through faith. We continue our journey to reach God. Since the fact that we have come from God, we must go back to Him and have to be with Him for ever. He is the goal and pivotal point of our life.

In our lives too we  undergo similar temptations as that  of the people of Israel faced. This can be the love for material pleasures, the thirst for fame, the greed for power etc. that are easily visible but still there are certain invisible effigies difficult to  get convinced of. Those are our notions about life, our thoughts , our logic etc. To get over the belief in these effigies is not easy for we experience some kind of protection from them and to desert them is not believed  practical.

Jesus was innocent. He never done any sin. But he was falsely accused, buffeted and insulted and finally crucified.

But if we need to have a sound faith in God we need to denounce these effigies. For example let us think about an egg. It's shell protects its content. But when the chicken about to come out, the shell need to be broken. Otherwise the the chicken will die inside the shell.  We also need to brake these shells in our life, if we want to achieve some goals. We need the help of our spirit. For that we listen Holy Words. If we love God, believe God, whatever happens in our life will be the medium of God's communication to us. Around us, we can see the Glory, Love, Beauty etc., of God.  We can also see all these things in Jesus' life.  The parables of good shepherd, sheep etc., are the medium of God's communication to the people.

Faith means, we should open ourselves to enable the God to come to our lives. We don't know the plans of God. He may intervene into our life out of our expectation. He is independent & like to come to us according to His plan.  We should understand all these things and should live accordingly.

We can see in the holy Bible that, when God decides to punish Israel, Moses prays for them. He begs pardon on behalf of Israel.

Jesus was innocent. He never done any sin. But he was falsely accused, buffeted and insulted and finally crucified. Are these things for his own salvation? No it was for the salvation of the people, whom he loves. As the disciples of Jesus, we should pray not only for us but also for the whole world.

Praise the Lord!

If we love God, believe God, whatever happens in our life will be the medium of God's communication to us.
